With the "Cost of Living Crisis" grabbing all the headlines, it's inevitable that there is lots of media attention on how people are going to cope and pay their bills etc. It's interesting to see that various tenant groups seem to be getting lots of press coverage and are now are making suggestions to govenment that rent rises should be banned and evictions suspended etc in order to stop tenants loosing their homes.

Understandable maybe from the tenants point of view, however, we rarely see any comment from landlords or landlord groups like the NRLA weather in response or on the issues that have or are effecting landlords. (S24, interest rates rises, inflation, legislation etc.) Clearly these tenant groups have better PR and know how to grab the headlines.

The image that a lot of people may have of landlords, is that they are all wealthy people, either the idle rich or high earners etc. It's not suprising that without more media coverage from the landlords side, some of these "Ideas" suggested by tenant groups will start to come in to play.

We saw it during Covid where eviction bans came in and how many landlords who lost out financially were never heard from. It's likely we will see plenty of landlords loosing out again with the current issues, so I do think more of "Our" side should also get coverage.

Landlords leaving the PRS is no good for tenants, the NRLA or other bodies, connected to the industry.
