Hi there,
I have a tenant who has moved out and unfortunately her freezer leaked onto carpet in the understairs cupboard which has left a stain and she shut the curtains upstairs in the window damaging them and they are now marked with water stain and mould. They are really nice quality curtains.

I want to claim for professional carpet cleaning to try and remove the stain and also for dry cleaning the curtains which should be ok.

Question: Can I claim for my mileage (45 miles round trip each time) and my time to go to the property take down the curtains, take them to the dry cleaner and do it all again to collect from the dry cleaner and put the curtains back up...???

The previous tenant showed me both the carpet and the curtains so she is aware they needed sorting and I have kept her updated on what needs doing.

Your thoughts would be appreciated as I think she may argue paying my costs.
