Hi, we're new to this, your (non-binding) advice is welcome.

January - April 2021 – bought a house, spent £5K on electrics, new boiler and windows, agency and reference fees, etc

Tax year 2020-2021 – didn’t fill in a tax self-assessment as we had no income from the property.

May 2021 – started renting out the house.

Now - completing first self-assessment tax return for income from rental property. Can we now claim for the £5K that we spent on the property in the tax year 2020-21, before we started receiving rental income? Or has that boat sailed?

Many thanks
