time period between refunding wrongly held deposit and section 21

Hi I hope you are well and thanks in advance for your help.

I hold 6 weeks deposit for a tenant, and need to issue a section 21. 

So i need to refund a weeks deposit, which is no problem, butmy question is ...is there a period of time i have to wait after refunding it so that i can issue a section 21?
