Finding tenants without agency, in Derby area

Hi, 

I am have a couple of properties in Derby and found my tenants initially through a local agent. I am thinking to do this myself. I have a couple of questions:
Firstly, where do I find out what the latest requirements are to find tenants (e.g. checking their rights to rent, are there any particular forms, paperwork I need to check or request from the prospective tenant) and secondly, what are the latest/best websites to advertise my properties for the Derby town area. I know all the big national ones, are there any local or smaller ones that I should know about?
