Payment Plan and late payment

I have a tenant who is £550 in arrears but who is also routinely two weeks late with the rent payment (£1150 pcm)

He has proposed paying £1350 per month to clear the arrears, but I am unsure as to agree to this, or how to approach things, since there are really  two separate issues, the late payment as well as the arrears.

I would ideally like to get him back to paying on the due date, as changing the payment date seems like a source of potential problems if we need to go down the section 8 route in the future.

Any advice gratefully appreciated.
