Hi

Has anyone had experience with Magnesite flooring in a kitchen.

I'm looking to replace the vinyl flooring in a kitchen of a 100 year old property. For the time I've had the property 9 years) there was half carpet and half vinyl in the kitchen for 6 years. For the last 3 years there has been vinyl flooring down on the whole floor.

I arranged for Carpetright to measure up for replacement vinyl flooring on the whole floor. They state that the kitchen has magnesite flooring and it is their company policy (due to being sued previously) that they won't fit vinyl on it. They are recommending a suitable carpet instead,

From what I can see the bits of the magnesite that are showing have not been effected by water. It looks like some of the floor has been covered up to make it more even.

What are your thoughts/experiences  on putting vinyl or carpet down on such a floor  in the kitchen? Thanks
