The lack of knowledge and understanding of the PRS was highlighted by both sides of the house in the latest parliamentary debate - it is well worth watching.

Interestingly one of the Labour MPs claims that the RNLA has said there is no reduction in PRS supply and that supply is increasing. I'm intrigued to know if this is true and if so, when it was said. It is 14:48:09 on the clip. Another MP states that 'much of the housing in the private rental sector' is poor quality which is factually incorrect based on the English Housing Private Housing Survey which finds higher satisfaction with the PRS than the social sector and only 12% were non decent in the south east and with  only Yorkshire and Humber having 38%.

MPs also commented that tenants are being evicted for reporting faults when in fact this is illegal.

I think there is a real need to up the game. Christopher Choke makes a good point but, much as I hate to say it,  from a comms point of view, we need fewer white, elderly middle class public school educated males making the case for landlords. I hate to have to say that but in terms of influencing the debate we need much more diverse  presentation.

So unless we get MPs to get the facts straight, we are going to end up with more poor policy which is disastrous for tenants and landlords.

Particularly, we need to get Labour to understand the issues because they are the next government.

Any thoughts?
