Good afternoon all. I am in the process of buying a flat for my daughter to live in. I am an overseas resident and have other properties in the UK. The flat is leasehold and I am paying 175K (ground rent is 125 pa). When I go on the gov.uk website and use the SDLT calculator it says the SDLT is 3750. I am not sure this is correct - if I were buying a house that is freehold for the same value my stamp duty would be around 8750.

Could anyone please explain to me if SDLT is different for leasehold flats, even for overseas residents?

Louise
