Hi all, I have recently renovated a property and I understand that the renovation costs will be classed as a capital expense due to the work being carried out before it was rented out.

I am unsure whether i can claim other costs such as council tax, insurance, gas & electric etc even though these costs were incurred before the property was let but the intention was always to rent the property in end? If i could claim these i would be making a loss for the tax year (22/23) due to only recieving one months rent in March which means the loss could then hopefully be carried forward to this tax year.

Any help, advice or pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks
