Time lag switches in HMO

Dear all, 

I am new to this and have an HMO. I am looking to put in time lag switches for the passage and stairs as it is always on. I am having difficulty as there are two sets of lights, and two switches at the top, bottom and in the middle. 

Any experience wiht this? Is it worth the trouble?
