HMRC doesn't recognise me

Tried to log in to do tax return. As I always do before Xmas. HMRC doesn't recognise me. Reset password but validation of name, dob n NI is not recognised. After many attempts to call HMRC, finally got through and spoke with lady. She entered details etc and said, no you are not on the system. Weird. Wrote letter today to post to HMRC BX9 1AS.  wait response. Anyone else in same situation? May be HMRC database has been hacked.
