Frequency of fire alarm testing for RTM

we live in a converted Victorian house comprising four flats and have got the right to manage. The agency we have outsourced the management to are our suddenly telling us we should have our fire alarm checked and serviced every six months like a commercial premises. Note we are not a HMO. Can this 6 month schedule really be right?
