A room only ex tenant has sent me a First Tier Tribunal Rent Repayment Order for a period of 9 months the home was unlicenced. This was due to the fact that I became an unexpected landlord and the information the local Council gave me which I possibly may have got wrong, they will never accept liability.  so I had 3 households in the property but 5 people for a period of time.   I had all the safety certificates, etc prior to anyone in the property so in place & was awarded the licence promptly by the Council

Employing a solicitor to take this situation on for me will prove expensive and there seems to be so much paperwork involved

Is there any advice anyone can give me to get this resolved and put to bed.
