Recently bought a ground floor flat, a converted old house, original house was number 24, the 5 new properties are 24, 24a, 24b, 24c, 24d.

None of these properties are listed on the Royal Mail post code checker, however, the local coucil have us set up and have created an account for us for council tax, so have the utility companies.

Currently trying to get Building insurance, but because the exact address does not appear in the insurer's 'picklist' they say that they cannot insure us.

The mad thing is, if I go online and try to book the insurance you can enter the address manually and happily purchase the insurance. Anyway, I actually phoned up the insurance company as i had additional questions, and they had my online quote reference in front of them, I was anbout to pay and purchase theh insurance when just so happened to mention to them that I had to enter the address manually as it didn't appear in their picklist. Their response was that 'Ahhhh, that is a problem, we can't insure you because the address is not in the picklist'.

I have now had multiple phone calls with them, same result, they won't sell us the insurance.

I highlighted to the person on the phone that I would actaully be able to purchase the insurance if I did it online and entered the address manually, however, I was told that if you made a claim you would not be insured (null and void). So, in essence they are selling insurance online that is not actually valid insurance, sounds like fraud/criminal theft in my opinion.

How would the FCA view this?

So, my question is...how do I get the address added to the insurers 'picklist'? Do they use the Royal Mail's picklist?

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
