Our tenant has just given us two weeks notice that she is vacating the property, as she has lost her job due to the pandemic and will be returning to her parent's home. We do feel for her, but at the same time want to cover our own costs if possible. She's been a long term tenant and always on time with rent, but every time we've visited the flat, it has been in quite a mess. I've had a look on the government website, but we are wondering how to manage this- can we still use the deposit to partially cover the missed rent and any repairs (I'm sure it will cost us more than the deposit is anyway)
