Is is legal requirement to supply a cooker?

We are preparing our first BTL. It's a 2 bed unfurnished apartment. It doesn't have a cooker but there is space in the kitchen with both gas and electric supply. We were told by varies estate agents very different suggestions as to whether to supply a cooker. Please can someone confirm is it a legal requirement to supply one? Is an electric cooker better than a gas one? Thanks.
