My tenant of 13 years has agreed to a rent increase but insisted on a new tenancy. So taking advice from a reputable letting Agent , he told me they both want to be on the new tenancy.
The tenant now says this will affect her obtaining some help (with Universal Credit?) as he(the son) is dependent upon her while he is at college but as a joint tenant if and when he leaves full time education as a joint tenant if he is on a low wage is still expected to contribute to half of the rent.
She has now requested he be taken off the tenancy but is still expected to be living there full time.
What is your advice?
