I completely agree with you! It's just more bureaucracy, paperwork that no one reads, signatures, time wasting etc etc.

Why can't it work like this:-

Landlord received deposit off tenant. Landlord registers the details with the tenants deposit protection scheme. TDP scheme sends a letter to the tenant containing all the details. Job done, end of story, full stop.

Pointless legislations and rules are introduced which then end up catching honest people out if they are not aware of them.

Have these people that introduce these rules never heard of KISS? (Keep It Simple Stupid!) Some of these people must think that if it's too simple then it can't be any good!
