I have read that landlords must provide battery backed up hard-wired fire alarms in their properties. I have not started renting out yet and currently have a battery powered fire alarm with fire blankets.

However, a website associated with a fire service states:
"In fact, landlords aren't under any legal obligation to do so unless the premises have been built since 1992. All homes built since 1992 (about 1.5 million new homes) are legally required to be fitted with a basic mains-powered alarm on each floor level."

So as my property is pre-1992 a hard-wired fire alarm is not required?

Thanks in advance
