When does TDS apply

My tenant moved in 2002 and is still in the property.

I am holding the deposit since then.

The agreement has been renewed every year.

Do I have to hold the deposit in the Tenancy Deposit Scheme? or does the TDS only apply for tenancies started after 6th April 2007.
