I have been advised that if I let any of my tenancy agreements roll over and become periodic tenancy agreements, and do not renew the Assured Shorthold Tenancy agreement before the 3rd anniversary of the same tenant being in the property, the AST automatically becomes a protected tenancy due to the length of time they've beeon on the same AST.

Please can you advise if this is correct..I have a tenant whose tenancy commenced in March 2006, and after the initial 6 months the tenancy has been periodic.

Thanks
