Dear HELP DESK,

I have received demands for ground rents. One from a company called Compton and another from a company called Nationwide Ground Rent.

First of all how to I know that these demands are legitimate?
Seconds what exactly is a ground rent? and if I buy it out (as they are offering) does that mean i will own the Freehold of the property or is the ground rent something separate to the freehold and leashold?
