Some damage has been caused to the walls and ceiling of the common landing area shared by my tenants' flat and one other flat. I am going to be billed for half of the repair cost. From what my tenants have told me, and also from what the representative of the tenants' committee has told me, I believe the damage was caused by the tenants in the other flat (who have now gone!). As the damaged area is only accessed by 2 of the flats in the block, the other tenants in the building are understandably not willing to contribute towards the repairs. However, as you can imagine, I'm not happy paying the bill for damage most likely caused by someone else.

Can you please tell me where I stand on this please? Should the management company be paying for this sort of thing out of contingency funding, or do I just have to 'bite the bullet' and accept that this is just one of those things I have to accept as a landlord!
