Is the inventory from RLA valid?

An estate agent has just told me that the inventory I did last year downloaded from the RLA doc. site, (which the tenant agreed to and has signed) will be considered "biased" as its done by the landlord and not by an inventory clerk. So far still waiting to get to the flat next week for the end of tenancy formalities, but is this true? Does one always need to get an outside inventory done? thanks
