The existing tenant is house hunting and I have told them they can stay on a statutory periodic with a monthly roll on with the existing 2 month notice at the same rent. Do I still need to pay the agent fees? I have never done so in the past.

This is their letter with the information from the Rent Collection service agreement.

I cannot recommend them since they are the most aggressive agency I have ever dealt with in 25 years.

Dear Margaret

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately, the first page of the Rent Collection Service Agreement states:

“Renewal fees are payable for all services including Let Only, whether or not the company assists the landlord with any continuation or renewal of the tenancy”.

On this basis, I am happy to confirm termination of the current contract, however if the tenants are to stay in the property you will still owe fees.
