Section 8 already served

Joint tenants constantly in arrears but paying a little each month

Served a section 8 in January, they then started to pay more and we worked out a payment plan for them to clear the arrears over 2 years (family, young children and I'm a soft touch)!!

One part of the joint tenancy has now left the property leaving the other in situ still with rent arrears

Can I now enforce the section 8 served in January even though there is now only one tenant bearing in mind it has both tenants names on it or do I have to serve another section 8 just on the tenant that is left?

If I have to serve a new section 8 with just one name on does that tenant then become liable for all the rent arrears or will the debt be split between them?
