Good morning,
We are currently trying to obtain a mortgage for a ex council house that has a corrugated concrete asbestos roof. The asbestos is low level and we have an email from the local council confirming there is no threat from the asbestos. We applied through a broker for a buy to let mortgage and the surveyor sent from the mortgage works stated the property was un mortgageable due to the roof, although a different surveyor sent from the mortgage works to another property with the same roof passed the mortgage.
We tried a second mortgage company and the surveyor sent passed the house but the broker did not do his research and the actually mortgage company he recommend do not loan on a property with that type of roofing.
We need to find a company that lends on this type of property, has anyone overcome this problem any advice would be welcome.
The roof is in very good condition and we don't want to replace at a cost of 12k +
Many thanks for you advice
